Artist's Statement
I have been a painter since 1989 and printmaker since 1997. Through painting and printmaking I record, interpret and enhance my visual, emotional and spiritual awareness. My form of expression includes still life, landscape, abstract paintings and prints. My images are greatly influenced by feminism, my strong commitment to personal and universal healing, and my respect for all individuals, nature, and the universe.

The imagery here reflects joy and passion for travel, adventure, nature, community and home. I am exhibiting collagraph, monotype and intaglio prints. I blend and layer colors. I move around and through the ink. I reflect back, and, with color and imagery, put on paper my emotional and visual response to a place or event.

Biography

Activist, Organization and Business Development Consultant, Lawyer, Mediator and Visual Artist
Activist and Organization and Business Development Consultant
Since 1975, both in New Haven, Connecticut and Albuquerque, New Mexico, I have worked to increase, protect and affirm women's rights, opportunities and personal healing. Initially, I marched, demonstrated, and volunteered for a rape crisis center. Since becoming a certified public accountant in 1976, I have assisted women-owned businesses and women-managed organizations with financial planning, fundraising and accounting. These services are now offered to women artists and art organizations.
Lawyer and Mediator
I completed law school in 1985. As an attorney and mediator I work with women and their families, women-owned businesses and women-managed organizations. I now offer these services to women artists and art organizations.
Visual Artist
Ten years ago my appreciation for art and artists lead me to my first painting class. I continued painting classes and lessons at University of New Mexico, Santa Fe Art Institute, Harwood Art Center, and with Virginia Baich, Joyce Shupe, Harmony Hammond, Joan Snyder and Pat Steir. I attended workshops by Regina Held, including lithography, collargraphs, monotypes, photo-etching, and intaglio. For the last four years, I have been a printmaker at New Grounds Workshop and now work in my home studio in Cedar Crest, New Mexico. Individually, and as a member of the Rainbow Artist Collective, I have exhibited in, planned and/or curated 25 art shows in galleries, community centers, public libraries, restaurants, bookstores, arts and crafts fairs, and on the web.
